Support for Parents & Carers
My name is Helen Scargill and I am the parental involvement worker (PIW for short) at Oakworth Primary School. I joined Oakworth in 2006 and I'm in school Tuesday - Friday.
I'm not based in a classroom with a year group as I offer support to the whole school. The role of the PIW across the Bronte Trust varies depending on the school community but overall, we try to be a link for parents/cares between home and school. I hope you enjoy watching the short clips below which hopefully explain a bit more about my role.
Baby Café runs in school on a Tuesday morning during term time 9 - 10.30 in the school hall, it's an ideal opportunity to meet other new parents in a safe and stimulating environment and hopefully have a cuppa. The group is accessible from birth until your baby is confidently walking. If you would like a hot drink during the session, please bring a lidded cup.
I can be contacted directly on the following email: piw.oakworth@bronteacademytrust.org.uk
You can ring the school office and leave a message and you will often find me outside in one of our many playgrounds during drop off and pick up times.
As part of my role supporting families, if you find yourself going through a challenging period please contact me as I may be able to signpost you to some support channels. I’m happy to help with appointments, forms and telephone calls. I also make a terrific cup of tea!
