Introduction

Oakworth Primary School is part of the Bronte Academy Trust and we ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.

We are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting, wherever possible.

Children are identified as having Special Educational Needs when their progress has slowed or stopped (Cognition and Learning) and the Quality First Teaching support, resources etc put in place do not enable improvement. Children may also be identified as having Special Educational Needs if they require additional support in terms of their Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Sensory/Physical Development or  Communication and Interaction.

We implement a graduated approach to supporting children with SEND; this approach is based on the guidance from Bradford Metropolitan Districts council’s guidance for SEND. This is based on an Assess-Plan-Do-Review cycle.

There are other useful documents available for you, such as our SEND Policy, which are available on the Bronte Academy Trust website and Bradford and District Local Offer website which gives you information, support and details of activities available in the area you live. If you would like any further information about what we are able to offer, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What is the Local Offer?

The LA Local Offer

  • Schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.

  • The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It is an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.
